IT'S PATHETIC

Wesley Clark's demeaning comments about John McCain.. and the ridiculous attempt by the media-left to explain them: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/mark-finkelstein/2008/06/30/does-andrea-mitchell-really-believe-clark-was-freelancing-mccain

THE SUPREMES DO ONE RIGHT

Most Justices actually read the Constitution and upheld the right to keep and bear arms, in a 5-4 decision. Here's the complete Court opinion in this landmark case: http://www.supremecourtus.gov/opinions/07pdf/07-290.pdf

PELOSI UNLEASHED

BIBLE WARS, PART TWO

Obama says maybe Dr. Dobson's just "making stuff up": http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/06/24/obama-dobson-is-making-stuff-up-with-bible-criticism/ And an American public clueless about the Bible probably thinks he's right.

DR. DOBSON VS. OBAMA

The Biblical gloves are off and Dr. James Dobson challenges Obama's view of the Bible and the Constitution: ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5gnLulDbw

Meanwhile, a new survey shows many Americans must think God grades on a curve:

WHY THE VENOM?

If the Left is so convinced that the Era of Bush-and-anyone-at-all-like-him is already over, and we might as well crown Barack Obama immediately... why the extreme anger? If they're convinced that the U.S. desperately wants more taxes, fewer cars, 19th century isolationism, less religion, no "norms" and the like... why not a more positive response to the daily news? Why the increasingly nasty reaction to, well, just about everything? If their side is going to win, and is winning already, why the overheated, often profane spew from those who claim to promote open attitudes and a willingness to have dialogue? Maybe their new-found (possibly feigned)confidence is built on empty hopes? And a fear that the USA's "fly-over" country still "gets it" when it comes to the stuff that matters most?

THE REPUBLICANS ARE "SAPS": The New York Times' David Brooks says the GOP hasn't figured out the "two Obamas": http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/20/opinion/

WHAT DO THE PEOPLE KNOW?

Most Americans do not support gay marriage, but that doesn't matter to the media:

SNATCHING DEFEAT FROM JAWS OF VICTORY

GIVING CREDIT WHERE IT'S DUE

Barack Obama spoke about the responsibility of fathers and hit some excellent points:
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20080615/D91AMTT00.html Of course Bill Cosby's been saying such things for years, but it's a good thing to hear the Senator raise the issue (until he got into the usual big government solutions). This also illustrates concerns that the "religious right" has about the Presidential match-up and Obama in particular: http://blogs.usatoday.com/oped/2008/06/why-the-christi.html

NETWORK SPIN MISSES THE POINT

The stupid U.S. Supreme Court decision giving terror suspects at Gitmo broad "rights" is not just a blow to President Bush... it's likely to create possibly deadly results. But the networks are busy spinning: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/brent-baker/2008/06/12/ruling-big-stinging-defeat-could-prove-embarrassing-bush

SEE IT BEFORE THE OCEAN IS GONE

TRACKING THE NUMBERS

As the "surge" continues to work in Iraq, Coalition military deaths for 2008 are down to 194. Still too many, but a huge drop from previous years. In the meantime, deaths in Tijuana, Mexico... just across the border from San Diego... are now up to 232, year-to-date! Where's the outrage and international concern about what the drug cartels and corruption are doing to that country? It's a problem we ignore at our own peril.

MUST SEE TV

Don't miss the special series on DISCOVERY (especially if you have their HD channel) this week.
"When We Left Earth: The NASA Missions" should be "must viewing" for every American. Not only is it spectacular video but it's also inspiring history. Here's more: http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/nasa/nasa.html

SHE'S NOT GONE YET

Does anyone really believe The Hill and Bill Show is over? She "suspended" her campaign, and that means she could come alive again should "America's Political Rock Star" (should be Obama's trademarked sales slogan) falter. And that's possible. The Clintons have worked long and hard and at any cost to grab power, and they're not going to just fade away.

WHAT DO THEY KNOW?
Europeans pay a heckuva lot more for gasoline, and they aren't nearly as irritated as Americans:
www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/06/foreign_climates.html Has anyone dragged out the old arguments for bringing back the ol' 55MPH speed limits yet? Please: Let's not go there.

ENOUGH WITH THE "OLD" JOKES: Every late-night comedian takes the easy way out with quips about McCain's age. Get over it. In these days of over-sensitivity to just about any remark, why do "old jokes" get a pass? Where's AARP's lobby on this? Oh, that's right. They tilt far to the left most times. Obama fans, likely.

OBAMA AS GOD

Now that the busy week's new is settling, we've had time to review the speech Senator Obama gave Tuesday night, when he became the "presumptive nominee". Here's my favorite part, where he talks about being humble... and suggests apparently God-like powers, including controlling the rise of the oceans:

America, this is our moment. This is our time. Our time to turn the page on the policies of the past. Our time to bring new energy and new ideas to the challenges we face. Our time to offer a new direction for the country we love. The journey will be difficult. The road will be long. I face this challenge with profound humility, and knowledge of my own limitations. But I also face it with limitless faith in the capacity of the American people. Because if we are willing to work for it, and fight for it, and believe in it, then I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth. This was the moment — this was the time — when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves, and our highest ideals. Thank you, God Bless you, and may God Bless the United States of America.

No doubt about it: The man can deliver a heck of a speech, when the script's in front of him.
Here's the full text: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0608/10818.html But the theme is always wrapped around an implied message of "vote for me and I'll set you free".... heal the sick, work miracles, walk on water...

THE GOOD SAMARITAN, RIP

Apparently we have lost our "moral compass". This horrible from Hartford, CT demonstrates that we're now in a new me-first mode... the full story and video here: http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/06/05/ignored.hitrun.ap/index.html

BUT HE'S A SNAPPY DRESSER

Ahmadinejad keeps spreading joy... and we'd better not discount his dangerous views:

WHAT DOES HE REALLY MEAN?

Iran's Ahmadinejad threatens Israel again: http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=080602124328.f6eyi8y1&show_article=1 I wonder how a "President Obama" would handle. It's a recurring (increasingly disturbing) trend with Mahmoud A.

THE HALO EFFECT

Yet another halo added to an Obama image. Last week it was the cover of Newsweek. Now this:
