AS EGYPT GOES...

...so goes the region. I'm not convinced that the uprising will end in a democracy. It's opportunity time for all the bad guys, too. Keep an eye on the Muslim Brotherhood (More background: Read A Mosque in Munich) and what they try to stir up among the masses. Some of this process reminds me of Carter mishandling the Shah of Iran, leading to the hostage incident and losing the country to the Islamic "republic". What President Obama does.. most importantly what and how he says things related to this.. could make all the difference. Our allies around the world are keenly interested to see how America reacts. If Egypt falls into more radical hands, who's next? Saudi Arabia... Pakistan... et al.

ARIZONA UPDATE

After numerous sources (including some Federal insiders and even NPR) reported Rep. Giffords had died (which led to many of us in the media reporting the same thing at that point), she's not in "grave" and "very critical condition", thank God. Surgeon says he's "very optimistic". Time will tell. But what a horrible day... especially for the families of other who were killed. We'll see what we find out re: the suspect and his motivations.

LORD HELP US

The horrible attack in Tucson today (Rep Giffords and others dead) brings to mind these initial thoughts, as I noted on Facebook earlier:

"Watch this awful AZ shooting story carefully...terror-group related? And if they can somehow connect any shooter to conservatives and /or talk radio, Fox News inspiration....well then, it's time to put on your conspiracy thinking cap...very curious timing... Already saw a FB post by a So Cal news anchor who though it fair to point out the Congresswoman was "on Sarah Palin's target list". TARGET? Please."

This is murder, plain and simple. Media need to call it what is is, no matter who's responsible. Eager to hear more about the shooter, who reportedly "shouted something" before opening fire. Sure sounds like the usual terrorist plan... but let's face it: This is a form of terrorism, no matter what the source.

Praying for all who have been touched by this awful event...

Now, let's get back to work. Let's pray the new U.S. House reps get smart and active very quickly. And let's stop calling lawmakers, well, "lawmakers". It only encourages them. They should resolve to do nothing unless it's directly connected to improving the business climate and job creation opportunities.
