SUPERBOWL, EXTRA LARGE

Our friend John Gibson at Fox News calls it that (XL). Big game, bg hype. Always (well usually) fun, especially the commercials... sometimes halftime. But to make sure there's no "halftime malfunction" this time ABC is taking extra precautions:

ULTIMATE FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP: Saturday night's Pay TV bloodfest in Las Vegas is another sign of how far culture's been corrupted (and this has nothing to do with Tom DeLay).
The 1970s film Network was prophetic. My prediction: Real killing, pay-per-view (excused with some sort of crazy rationalization) on pay cable within five years. Just imagine: Some "experts" decide that it's too expensive to put murderers to death the old fashioned way, so they let 'em at each other, in the ring. While I can understand bottom line issues, what does it say about society? It's never enough, and soon Ultimate Fighting will get boring... and it will require new twists and thrills to maintain its success. This kind of thing was very popular in ancient Rome. And then they were "toast". Watch out.
