WITH THE USS RONALD REAGAN AT PEARL HARBOR

What an awesome image to remember forever... the Reagan coming in to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. I was on the bridge as this photo was taken on Wednesday evening. One of the most moving moments: The crew giving honors to the fallen heroes of the USS Arizona, as the Reagan passed the hallowed burial site in the Harbor. Let us never forget what happened here December 7, 1941.

The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) navigates its way through the narrow strait that make up the inlet to Pearl Harbor for a port visit. Reagan and embarked Carrier Air Wing Fourteen (CVW-14) are currently on a regularly scheduled deployment in support of the global war on terrorism and maritime security.

The crew of the USS Ronald Reagan honors the heroes of the USS Arizona, 1,177 of them buried at sea in the remains of the ship after the December 7, 1941 attack.

The USS Ronald Reagan passes the battleship USS Missouri, where the Japanese surrendered on August 15, 1945.

COMING NEXT WEEK: Our special broadcasts from the USS Ronald Reagan. Hear these exclusive programs on July 3 and July 4 only on NewsRadio 600 KOGO and www.kogo.com

USS RONALD REAGAN UPDATE

Due to some unexpected scheduling changes today, our special broadcast from the USS Ronald Reagan has been postponed. Instead, we will bring you highlights of the past two days at sea with the Reagan on our MONDAY show. (I'm also doing special live reports from the ship today. )On the July 3rd also hear special reports from Pearl Harbor as we honor our nation's heroes. On Tuesday July 4th, we'll broadcast another special show we're producing today here on the ship. This show will feature many special messages from the crewmembers to their loved ones in San Diego. Everyone is busy with the final preparations for the "home stretch", as this glorious ship returns to San Diego from its maiden deployment on Thursday July 6th. Thanks to our sponsors who are making these special broadcasts possible: Barratt American, the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians and El Cajon Ford.

LOTS OF ACTION OUT HERE: Crowded seas off of Hawaii. The RIMPAC (Rim of the Pacific) war games are being held not far from here, with participation from some 35 warships, six submarines, 140 aircraft and 19,000 personnel. It's quite an amazing opportunity to be on-site as these events are going on.

TOMORROW'S SPECIAL: Don't forget to join us for our "Larson's 30th Anniversary in San Diego Radio Show" from 12 Noon to 3PM. We'll broadcast live from the San Diego Air & Space Museum with free admission, free food and refreshments and lots of special guests. Hope to see you there! (Program note: On FRIDAY, we'll broadcast live from the San Diego County Fair!)

LARSON ON THE ROAD THIS WEEK

I'll be "on assignment" with the USS Ronald Reagan somewhere in the Pacific this Monday through Wednesday. On the way to flying out to the carrier, I'll stop in Hawaii to record some special radio shows from Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial. The first of these
programs will air this Wednesday from noon to 1pm. On the same day, during the 1-3PM hours, I'll do the show direct from the USS Ronald Reagan as the ship and its Strike Group return
from a six month deployment (Reagan's first... they'll be back in San Diego sometime in July). While on location this week, I'll also record a special 12-3PM July 4th show that will feature many of the men and women of the crew with their messages to loved ones back at home. I'm very excited about these history-making broadcasts, our first on the USS Ronald Reagan since I was with them for several days in the Persian Gulf in March. The very special programs are made possibleby Barratt American, the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians and El Cajon Ford. Check back for Blog updates. Scroll down for amazing photos of the Reagan in last week's exercises off of Guam.

You're invited this Thursday: It's our "Larson's 30th Anniversary in San Diego Radio" Show, live
from the San Diego Air & Space Museum in Balboa Park!Stop by during the show from 12-3PM for free admission to the museum, free food and refreshements and plenty of fun!

WHAT'S ARNOLD SMOKING?

No more California National Guard troops to the border? Notes NewsMax: "Because of potential disasters here in California and wanting to ensure we are prepared, the governor would not send (more) troops out of state," a Schwarzenegger aide said. Uh, Governor, illegal immigration is already a disaster in California ond other states. Time to cooperate and help provide tougher enforcement.

I HATE TO SAY I TOLD YOU SO, BUT...

...the fight to curb illegal immigration has run out of steam in DC. So.. no bill this year? Hey, no bill is better than a bad bill. In the meantime, how about just enforcing existing laws?

YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK...

... and well worth the investment. It's the biggest naval "war games" exercise in decades, just off the coast of Guam (see photos below...taken earlier this week). This was a planned event, not in reaction to Kim Jong Il's latest North Korean missle threat, but it does serve as a nice reminder as to "who's boss" in the neighborhood. Here's the inside story:

The USS Ronald Reagan and Strike Group... somewhere in the Pacific.

That's called success. But you wouldn't know it by listening to Democrats on the Sunday TV talkshows--- they're now casually referring to Afghanistan as "it's blowing up" or "things are coming apart". They want to lump Afghanistan and Iraq together, and ignore dramatic progress in both countries. I predicted this left-wing spin when I returned from that country earlier this spring (travelling to hot spots such as Helmand Province). The Taliban and Al Qaeda always mount an offensive, and this year's is stronger. But every day the Coalition forces are seeing big wins over the enemy. Oh, and yes--- it's the "enemy" the media should be talking about... not referring to them as some generic "militants" or "insurgents".

MORE FROM INSIDE AFGHANISTAN: Defense Minister Adbul Rahim Wardak is scheduled to join me later this week, direct from Kabul. NEWSMAX MAGAZINE: Yours truly was interviewed for a special feature about Afghanistan in the JULY issue of the print publication...you'll see copies available in the next few days. ELECTION DAY

Here we go again. It all boils down to what The People do... let's hope they've been paying attention to the facts. Listen to the election analysis throughout the day on NewsRadio 600 KOGO and www.kogo.com Special Larson program: 6-8PM Pacific tonight (in addition to the regular Noon to 3PM show)... KOGO News Team coverage after the polls close at 8PM.

06/06/06: Many people are spooked by the "666" image and possibilities of awful things happening today. Let's focus instead on something of great significance that happened on this date in history: D-Day, 1945. It marked the end of Nazi tyranny in Europe, due to the utlimate sacrifice of many of our best and brightest soldiers. Thank God.

COURTS RUNNING WILD

An activist judge strikes again, saying that Prison Fellowship's program in an Iowa prison must end. I chaired PF in San Diego for almost a decade and can say that, without a doubt, their in-prison programs are among the most effective in breaking the cycle of crime and recidivism. Certainly much better than government attempts at rehab. So, of course, in the eyes of a left-leaning judge this has to stop. Huh? Thank God: Prison Fellowship is appealing the decision.

HOW LIBERALS WORK ILLEGALS

Congressional candidate Francine Busby steps in it again... this time on audio tape saying you don't need papers to vote (if you're illegal). Now she says she misspoke. Uh, sure. The curtain's been pulled back on her extremist agenda. And, earlier in the week she told Fox's Major Garrett that she favors Social Security benefits and Earned Income Tax Credits for illegals, too. signonsandiego.com/news/politics/50thdistrict/20060603-9999-1mi3busby.html

LET'S KEEP THINGS IN PERSPECTIVE

As charges are likely to be filed against a small group of Marines in an April incident (and the investigation into what happened in Haditha continues) let's remember that nearly 1 million men and women have served honorably in Iraq and Afghanistan. Any crimes need to be punished, of course. But it's not time to play politics with the situation. We cannot slip back into the "they all did it" mindset of the Vietnam era. That's a way to insure a win for terrorism... and it dishonors those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

A NEW ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION TWIST

The push for amnesty continues with a new effort to suggest that the debate in the USA could push Mexico more to the left. Ah yes, it's all OUR fault. First we're told we should feel sorry for illegals who come into this country..uh... illegally...then never get SOCIAL SECURITY benefits because... uh.. ahem.. well, they used illegal, fake IDs and numbers. Now this new spin from AP. See if you can find any evidence that this "news" story is accurate. Or is it simply a case of AP demonstrating its own agenda, pretending this is a legit report?
