HIDE THE DOGS & COVER THEIR EARS

Hillary Clinton sings (barely) our National Anthem. Here's the video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=bfZ_gXCHaMw

HAND IN YOUR SLINGSHOTS

HILLARY AND EVIL MEN

In a weekend Q&A session, there was this:

One questioner asked Clinton if her track record showed she could stand up to "evil men" around the world.
"The question is, we face a lot of dangers in the world and, in the gentleman's words, we face a lot of evil men and what in my background equips me to deal with evil and bad men," Clinton said. She paused to gaze while the audience interrupted with about 30 seconds of laughter and applause.
Meeting later with reporters, she was pressed repeatedly to explain what she meant. She insisted it was a simple joke.

Sounds like John Kerry is writing her comedy material. Here's the full story: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070128/ap_on_el_pr/clinton2008_13

It would be amusing if it wasn't so dangerous. Oh sure, they say they "support the troops" but you can't do that while undermining their mission. They continue to encourage the enemy most of all.

GODSPEED

Our prayers are with the crew (and families) of the USS Ronald Reagan Strike Group as they're leaving San Diego at this hour. The Reagan is the newest, most powerful aircraft carrier in the fleet and is joined by the Navy ships Russell and Lake Champlain as over 5,000 sailors are deployed in support of the war on terror.
More info: http://starbulletin.com/2007/01/21/news/story10.html
The ship returned from its maiden six month deployment just last July. It was called into service now due to the USS Kitty Hawk being unavailable due to maintainance. They'll head to Japan, but the mission may change due to tensions in the Persian Gulf region. That's where the carriers Eisenhower and Stennis are already assigned. I have a special affinity for the Reagan, having been an "Honorary Plankowner" since the commissioning in 2003. I've had the honor of being on board many times, including last March when we did the first long-form talkshows from onboard in the Gulf. We also did special broadcasts from off the coast of Hawaii last June as deployment was coming to a close.
For more stories and photos onboard during our special Persian Gulf broadcasts (and from Pearl Harbor) just go to "Search This Blog" above and type in USS Ronald Reagan. Listen for special updates on Newsradio 600 KOGO and www.kogo.com

MORE REASONS TO BE CONCERNED

THEY'RE AT IT AGAIN

The anti-war crowd is up to their old tricks, and they're freshly emboldened by power-hungry knuckleheads in the Senate: www.cnsnews.com/ViewPolitics.asp?Page=/Politics/archive/200701/POL20070124e.html The cheering you hear is from the terrorists.

WHATEVER IT IS, WE'RE AGAINST IT

That's the typical Democrat response... and they did it again after the State of the Union speech: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,246106,00.html The DNC had nothing good to say about this message even before the speechwriters began crafting it.

BUSH AS NIXON

The poll data is flying in blizzard-like tonnage. The media are piling on Bush even before he delivers the State of the Union speech. Now the story is that his popularity is at "Nixon levels": www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/01/22/AR2007012200236
It's another ploy of the left as they're "helping" the American people make the link, then go from there to connect "Iraq" with "Vietnam". It's a sickening tactic... and very dangerous.

IT USED TO BE CALLED LEADERSHIP

Bush is seen as "stubborn": http://newsmax.com/archives/ic/2007/1/22/72734.shtml?s=lh Now politicians are supposed to make decisions based on polls? Surveys of the people who think what Brad and Angelina are doing is more important than the war on terror? Americans who may mean well but have no idea about the real issues. Now we have a 24/7 news cycle and more polls than ever. The President should do the right thing and not chase a legacy based on pandering to the public.

LET'S SEE WHAT WE HAVE SO FAR...

Obama could be the first African-American President, Bill Richardson the first Hispanic, Hillary the first woman (but we should check her DNA to be sure), Dennis Kucinich the first Martian...
and the networks are playing up the two African-American coaches in the Superbowl. Gee, sure glad no one's playing that "race and gender card" in any of this. Milestones are wonderful and it's nice to see people rising to success but the media love to work the stories so much that they help create fresh bias.

BE CAREFUL TODAY

Some "experts" say today is Blue Monday... the "unhappiest day of the year": www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=430389&in_page_id=1770 Of course it's all what you make it, isn't it?

WHAT'S HE THINKING?

Or IS he thinking right now? First President Bush needs to pardon Ramos and Compean, the Texas Border Patrol agents: www.cnsnews.com/ViewNation.asp?Page=/Nation/archive/200701/ And he needs to stop doing the "mea culpa tour", admitting mistakes again, trying to look bi-partisan (just look at what "progressive" media are doing with his 60 Minutes comments). It's also time to get tough on border enforcement, not embracing amnesty. Oh...there's more: Why is he backing off on the surveillance of potential terrorists? And he's getting wobbly on environmental issues. This is no way to build a legacy. Unless you want to be seen as "successful" as, say, Jimmy Carter. Or LBJ. Why is Bush making it so difficult for those who want to support him? Time to stop playing defense and LEAD. Stay in the current mode and the Democrats will make mince meat out of his administration.

THIS JUST IN FROM AREA 51

Dennis The Menace Kucinich wants the FCC to curb free speech: http://www.fmqb.com/Article.asp?id=333927

KATIE'S TRIALS

Ms. Couric continues to struggle at CBS. Now, according to MediaBistro.com, the current spin about her bad ratings is "gender":

"Count Larry King among Katie Couric's fans," B&C reports. "The venerable CNN host watches the new anchor of the CBS Evening News and thinks her ratings struggles have more to do with gender than with journalism."King says: "It might still be hard for a woman to anchor the evening news. And that's sad."> Also: "Maybe you just can't change the way you are branded," King adds. "CBS can't do well in the morning, either. [The Early Show] is a good show. If they moved Katie to the morning, would it help? Maybe not. They may just be branded [as unsuccessful in the mornings]."

So... it's a bias toward women? Or maybe the newscast is just bad. Let's go with that. For starters, there's something unsettling about an anchor opening with "Hi everyone". Golly, gee, it's, like, the NEWS! Eww boy.

PARDON THE BORDER PATROL OFFICERS

WHAT THEY REALLY HATE...

...is George W. Bush. Many Democrats in DC have greater disdain for Bush than they do for the terrorists. They feel compassion for Saddam ("Oh, why couldn't he have been hanged without taunts?")And they would prefer it if America would lose the war in Iraq... so they can be "right". Now the left is horrified that the President would dare bring Syria and Iran into the discussion, putting the countries on notice that we're not going to tolerate their involvement with the insurgency. People like Keith Olberman are shocked that the President would suggest complicity. Well, what Bush discussed is reality. It's also something several Democrat "leaders" want to ignore. They'd rather play on the emotions of people, who are understandibly fatigued by the situation. It's partly Bush's fault that he hasn't regularly explained the war effort as clearly as he did tonight. He's also allowed the opposition to make him appear more weak than he already is on many issues. Here's the text of his speech to the nation: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/01/20070110-7.html
On NBC's Brian Williams and MSNBC's Chris Matthews thought it was important to note that GWB was speaking from the White House library--- where Jimmy Carter gave his first fireside chat. Egad. They're on the same talking points in the lib effort to canonize Carter? Again, it proves the point: They're so committed to taking down Bush, to claiming Iraq is Vietnam, to pretending the War on Terror is a figment of Bush's imagination that they appear willing to empower the bad guys with new resolve. And Dems allow Turban Durbin to do the "response" to Bush. These people are dangerous for America. God help us.

FASTEN YOUR SELTBELTS

Look at what the new Democrat leaders do, not what they say. Pelosi gave her lofty acceptance speech, at moments sounding like she thought she was elected Commander-in-Chief. But many Americans will say, "Oh, she looks nice, great smile, seems like she cares". They have no clue about her left-wing credentials and where she really wants to take the country. Next week the blitz begins, aided by the kiss-up mainstream/dinosaur media. Watch her. Watch the new Capitol Hill committee members. Pay very close attention to what they're really up to. The Sons and Daughters of the 1960s are in charge now, and that's a dangerous situation.

LEAVE IT TO JIMMY

He stars at the latest Ford funeral, this time in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Taking a page from the "It's All About Me" Clinton handbook, he even managed to slide in self-congratulation for his Camp David deal. Here's an excerpt:

"As president, I relished his sound advice and he often, although I must say, reluctantly, departed from the prevailing opinion of his political party to give me support on some of my most difficult challenges. For many of these, of course, he had helped to lay the foundation, including the Panama Canal treaties, nuclear armaments control with the Soviet Union, normalized diplomatic relations with China and also the Camp David Accords."

In Jimmy's view, I guess Ford was John the Baptist, leading the way for Carter/Jesus (and on the seventh day, Jimmy rested). If Carter really appreciated Gerald Ford's "sound advice", he would have avoided the kind of unbecoming comments often makes, at the expense of the current President. At least Ford had the decency to embargo his critiques until after he passed away.

I do wonder what kind of crowds will adore Jimmy when he's gone. Most likely a majority will be members of the mainstream/dinosaur media.
