A GREAT AMERICAN

I'm not talking about that cheap "radio talkshow host chatter" where anyone who kisses up to the host is called "great"... Charlton Heston was indeed worthy of the title. This legend of a man passed away this weekend. He was great, bold,influential... and very effective. He also marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. when it wasn't popular to do. In recent years his anti-gun detractors conveniently overlooked that part of his life. Here's one of many tributes to this giant in American film and politics: http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives2/2008/04/020228.php
MUST READING: His books "In the Arena" and "To Be A Man". Yes, he wrote books, too.
I had the honor of appearing with Mr. Heston at several events where he spoke (I was MC) including in Washington, DC where he gave one of the first renditions of his "cultural war" speech at the National Press Club. He also joined me on my radio show several times. They don't make patriotic Americans like this anymore. God bless his legacy and his family.
