OBAMA-AS-QUAYLE
If Barack Obama was any Republican, the new media would be turning him into toast right now:

And the gaffes just keep on comin'! Oh, there's more: Obama's foot-in-mouth was documented back in early 2007 as well: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/ken-shepherd/2008/05/27/obamas-gaffes-start-pile-lynn-sweet-march-2007
SCOTTY, WE HARDLY KNEW YE
Former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan tries to sell his new book with all sorts of juicy tidbits, revealing horrible Bush moves: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0508/10649.html
Apparently the Huffington Post is ghostwriting his material.

REMEMBERING THE SACRIFICE
This Memorial Day weekend is all about honoring those who have given it all for our freedom.
It's not about "half-price sales" and other hype, though that concept may surprise too many Americans.
I've found that it helps to take time on special holidays to read something inspiring... something that clearly demonstrates what the observance is all about. This weekend I've been absorbed in "Lone Survivor" by Marcus Luttrell. As the subtitle notes, it is "the eyewitness account of Operation Redwing and the lost heroes of Seal Team 10" in Afghanistan in 2005: A gripping account, and one that inspires true patriotism... but most of all, gratitude to those who volunteer to defend all we hold dear and lay it on the line everyday. God bless them all... and those who have gone before them.

BEST WISHES TO SENATOR KENNEDY
We've had plenty of disagreements on issues over the years, but only a cold-hearted political reptile would wish the worst for Ted Kennedy. The fact is the diagnosis of an inoperable brain tumor is awful news for the entire Kennedy family... and for the left in America. Despite obvious issues over the years, we wish him all the best... and God's miracles... as he battles this disease.
Leave it to Katie Couric, though, to find a "spin" in the situation... trying to make Americans feel guilty for not spending enough money on cancer: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/brent-baker/2008/05/20/kennedy-hook-couric-rues-inadequate-cancer-spending

PLAYING GOD
Not a good idea, no matter how you spin in. In the UK they're OK with mixing human and animal cells... for the "good of science" of course. Mad science, maybe: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/politics/article3964693.ece

LEGALIZING STUNTS
That's what the California Supreme Court has done, says Debra Saunders at the San Francisco Chronicle: www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/05/city_hall_of_love.html
WHAT THE PRESIDENT REALLY SAID
The left has gone crazy with reaction to the Bush speech in Israel, making it seem like he mentioned Obama multiple times, by name, and rallied for McCain. That's absurd. Here's the full speech: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2008/05/15/text-video-president-bushs-speech-israeli-knesset

JUDICIAL ACTIVISM... AGAIN
This time the California Supreme Court goes against the will of the voters of the state, redefining marriage: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/05/15/BAGAVNC5K.DTL Eight years ago over 60% of Golden State voters approved Proposition 22, the measure that made it clear that legally recognized marriage is between a man and a woman. Once again a handful of judges have thumbed their noses at the will of the people, as they've done... or tried to do... many times. That's the point. The debate can be about what constitutes marriage, but the bigger issue is whether judges will be allowed to trump the will of the people.
Here's the transcript of the court's decision: http://www.courtinfo.ca.gov/opinions/documents/S147999.PDF?tsp=1
One of the more irritating displays of arrogance today was that of San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsome... the same man who began trampling the State Constitution in recent yearsby just deciding to change the rules in his city. Today he proudly declared that whether Americans like it or not, as California goes.. so goes the nation. His message was basically, "get used to it".
Lord knows what's next.

RON PAUL'S PLAN
Create chaos for McCain: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/05/ronpaulgop.html
Isn't there a big ethical issue here? Paul is sorta not running for Prez, but not officially out... so he can still grab money... while runnign for his seat in Congress. Now that's bold, transparent leadership!

THE PUSH IS ON
Watch the national mainstream media quickly attempt to push Hillary under her campaign bus after Obama snags North Carolina, while Clinton gets by with a "W" in Indiana. HALL OF FAME WEEKEND

My son Jeff and I attended the Astronaut Hall of Fame Induction at Kennedy Space Center, Florida over the weekend. This year's honorees are all very deserving of the recognition. Pictured here are (left to right) Loren Shriver (Colonel, USAF, Ret.), Bryan O'Connor (Colonel, USMC, Ret.), John Blaha (Colonel, USAF, Ret.) and Robert Cabana (Colonel, USMC, Ret.). Their total Space Shuttle flight experience adds up to fifteen missions, all reaching historic milestones. More info on the inductees: http://www.astronautscholarship.org/ahof.html
The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation was founded by the Original Seven U.S. astronauts, including my longtime friend, the late Wally Schirra. The organization is committed to encouraging the next generation of scientists and engineers in space exploration. Speaking of exploring, we were treated to some very special up-close tours at the Cape, including the OPF (Orbiter Preparation Facility) where the "Atlantis" is being prepped for a July flight and the VAB (Vehicle Assembly Building)... the huge facility where the giant Saturn V rockets were assembled for America's moon launches. The same place is now used for the Shuttle Orbiters. When we visited last Friday, "Discovery" sat on the launch platform, complete with enormous external tank and solid rocket boosters (below). Friday night the huge doors to the VAB opened and the spacecraft was rolled out to launchpad 39A, getting set for a May 31 mission. By the way: The view from above the Shuttle is from a deck on the 16th floor. (Special thanks to the entire staff at Kennedy Space Center, especially Debbie and Brian. And kudos to my son Jeff for the pix.)

HILLARY, WOMAN OF THE PEOPLE
Enjoy this candid video of the Senator trying to operate a gas station coffee machine:

Not a huge deal, except to contrast this episode with the non-stop drubbing "Bush 41" got years ago when he marveled at a supermarket scanner for the first time. Ah, the times are a'changin'. It's the mainstream media bias that remains constant
