The Chinese believe that 8 is the "luckiest number". We'll see. As the opening ceremonies got underway, there had already been problems with protestors and an emailed threat to an Air China flight. And the air quality has gotten a whole lot worse than last weekend. So much for controlling such things with over 30,000 scientists. Still, we'll enjoy the spectacle of the games.. And the Chinese do know how to put on a heck of a show. Let's hope that the Chinese people see some increased prosperity and freedom through the process.
