ELECTION DAY IN SAN DIEGO
Here we go again. Expect runoffs to determine winners in the council races since no candidate will get over 50% That means the City Council limps along short of a full group until 2006. Jerry Sanders will be elected mayor by least 5%. Rival candidate Donna Frye told me on Monday that she won't challenge the results and would instruct "friends" (aka unions, et al) to consider the matter settled if she loses. However, she left one little ray of sunshine for those who won't let it go easily, saying she "just wants every vote to be counted". Been down this legal road before. And City Attorney Mike Aguirre is on record with his "concerns" about voting and the need for "observers" to insure a non-criminal election. Oh boy! Deja vu?
CALIFORNIA READY TO SEND ARNOLD A MESSAGE: After months of unions running tens of millions in anti-Arnold commercials, polls are showing the Governator's pet props lagging. Barring a surprise landslide, no matter what happens the left and their buddies in the media will claim Arnold's history. He's not.
Larson's recommendations: YES on 73 through 78; NO on 79 and 80.
ANOTHER LONG NIGHT IN PARIS: The French sent a message of weakness when they opted out of our move to yank Saddam from power. Lots of good that did for them. Muslim rioters kept it up terrorizing France for the twelfth night. Politicians there are clueless and still pretending that radical Islam isn't really part of the mix. Appeasement du jour.
