PRESIDENT DUNCAN HUNTER?

The word is out that the Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee is going to announce exploring a run for President in 2008: www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,226137,00.html
I received the early buzz of this around noon Sunday (assisted by hard-working producer Anna) and after checking with inside sources, I found that it's a safe bet he will set things in motion at an 11AM press conference today. And it's a smart move. Think about the current GOP field: McCain is not consistent, Guiliani too liberal, Allen in trouble in his Senate race, Frist too wishy-washy at times, etc. Not a real "deep bench" for Republicans. There really is no true Reagan conservative in the mix. Hunter could be that man. He came in with the Reagan Revolution in 1980, he's consistent on support for the military and conservative principles and he's actually done something on border security. I've known him for 26 years. He's the real deal, and not a packaged candidate but a man of the people who also isn't afraid to stand up for faith, family and hunting. Mr. Down-to-earth. Depending on how the left tries to demonize him, a President Hunter could be in our future.

CHAIRMAN HUNTER ON WITH US TODAY: He'll join me live at 12:05PM Pacific, right after his press conference. Also on the show, live today: Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
