Raising greater fears about H1N1 swine flu helps push public opinion in the healthcare debate. No coincidence. So no wonder the "estimates" keep getting adjusted: www.latimes.com/features/health/la-sci-swine-flu30-2009oct30,0,6865331.story

IN ALL ITS GLORY

Pelosi's new 1900+ page healthcare takeover bill is ready for primetime (the Holy Bible's only around 1500 pages)... search the whole thang here: http://prescriptions.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/10/29/search-the-house-health-care-bill/

SO MUCH FOR TRANSPARENCY
The Obama Administration is helping rake in more cash while hoping we don't notice: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/elections/2009/10/27/democratic-donors-rewarded-white-house-perks/ This from the people who claimed to be above it all, more "open" than previous administrations. Hmm.

SURE, IF YOU COUNT THEM 4 OR 5 TIMES
The San Diego Union-Tribune's ad campaign claims "over one million readers every week". Well, the latest circulation figures are out, and they're down another 10% or so. Check out the real numbers in detail: http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1004030296
WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
Here's more info on the President's "national emergency" declaration: http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=113964
Saturday, October 24, 2009
SAW IT COMING
And said so on the air back in June: The US Government (well, especially the White House) will eagerly use H1N1 Swine Flu fears to help citizens want more government 'help". So today when the President declared a "national emergency" (which will possibly speed up the flu shot process, short term), I couldn't help to think "I said so". Watch how the "emergency" may also be used in convenient timing to try to sway the health care takeover debate... and keep on eye on attempts to grab expanded national powers during the "crisis". For our own good, of course.
STOP IT THEN: One of the Administration's economic czars, Ms. Romer, says the "stimulus" is about done. Another report says we've spent only half. If there's money to be saved, maybe the rest of the cash orgy ought to be stopped... turn off the presses and help cool coming inflation. After all, the plan's not working... except for creation of government jobs.

SMOKIN' THE WEED

TIME TO WORRY
While the White House is distracting Social Security recipients with a $250 extra payment (timed nicely to woo older Americans to love the health care scheme), the Chinese may be getting easier access to our missile and space technology:

SAY WHAT?

Barack Obama wins the Nobel Peace Prize? Only two other sitting U.S. Presidents have won it (Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson), and they received it because they actually accomplished something. White House Press Secretary Gibbs said last hour that it was a reflection of "hope". Ew boy. And Jimmy Carter thinks it's a swell idea: http://apnews.myway.com/article/20091009/D9B7JEBO1.html Nuff said.
NASA LCROSS EVENT THIS AM: I was on site early this morning with Apollo 16 moonwalker Charlie Duke (keynote speaker at the event) at the NASA Ames Research facility in Mountain View, California. While NASA"s promised video of the six-mile high impact plume (from what some media call "bombing the moon") wasn't as expected, many high-powered telescopes around the world got some excellent shots. But the mission was about getting total mapping of the moon and fresh data re: possible ice/water in the south pole region. It was all about future space flights to the moon and beyond (unless Obama decides to tighten the NASA budget, which many fear). In the next few days, more important data will be released. Well worth the paltry $79 million for this on time, on budget project. Besides, that amount of money Washington,DC gives away about every few seconds with nothing to show for it.

NOW COUGH
The nation seems in the midst of H1N1 (swine flu) obsession. From Obama's White House photo op with the white-jacketed doctors to non-stop flu shot stories, the push is on... just in time to try to sway the Capitol Hill votes on "health care reform". The only story even bigger: David Letterman.
I'm in New York City for the next couple of days, broadcasting my show from the Salem Radio Network studios in the Empire State Building. Last night I enjoyed a cool autumn evening and wandered over to Times Square. In front of Letterman's studio, the media gaggle was unbelievable, with reporters all drooling over a chance to ambush the comedy star. If only the media cared as much as, well, the war on terrorism.... hmmm...
TONIGHT: I'll be emceeing the National Right to Life annual gala here in NYC. Busy week!

PROUDLY PRO-LIFE
A new Pew poll on attitudes about abortion is encouraging: http://www.lifenews.com/nat5532.html
BTW: I'm on the road in Houston tonight, speaking along with Star Parker at Texas Right to Life's annual event.. Then next week it's on to New York City for National Right to Life, where I'll be emceeing again. (While in NYC, also dropping by to appear on Fox & Friends Wed. AM.)
BTW: I think putting passion into saving lives warrants more political energy than pushing for the Olympics.
CHICAGO 2016... not: I grew up back in that area, living in Illinois until moving to San Diego in 1976. Residents already pay too much in taxes, and while the failed Olympic bid doesn't look good for the President, it will be a financial relief to the locals... whether they realize it now or not. I love watching the Olympics on television but it makes no sense for host cities to go down the financial drain in the euphoria of trying to snag a bid. Even Beijing is having reality set in regarding what they thought (and hoped) Olympic venues were going to do for the bottom line.
