So Prez Obama does a surprise trip to Afghanistan ( that's good) in order to talk extra tough to Karzai, our ally. Blunt talk is needed, but in the wake of last week's tough talk and plain old rudeness to our close friend (well, maybe till now) Israel... is this the new trend? Talk tough to our friends while trying not to offend our enemies. This happens when a person has near zero credibility re: foreign affairs.

HERE WE GO AGAIN

Another missing teen, Amber Dubois, is found dead after 13 months. This is the second such case in the past several days here in San Diego. The questions remain: Is Chelsea King's murderer the suspect in the Debois case, too? Did he provide the "tip" that led authories to Amber's remains? Is the real killer still on the streets? The bigger question is this: What now? We have "registries" and "systems" and grandstanding politicians and media people... and yet offenders keep falling through the cracks, ready to kill again. Registering sex offenders is one thing. Keep track and doing something to keep crimnals from hurting (and sometimes killing) again is quite another. The more we learn about the alleged murderer/rapist in the Chelsea King case, the more disgusting it gets. California has over 60,000 registered sex offenders. Thousands more across the USA... including over 100,000 "registered" that authorities say they've lost track of... talk about a "broken" system.
