AND THE WINNER IS...
...not Gov. Ahhnold. All of his key initiatives were trounced, despite a strong fight for Prop 75 until late in the evening election returns. The unions got what they wanted for their money, even though they've now mortgaged their future (and that of their membership... members who are still stuck in labor "political slavery" with no reasonable opt-out possibilities). Why was the Guv so soundly defeated? Analysts are acting mystified (which they think is a sign of sophistication) but it's pretty simple: Demonize Arnold with $100 million+ in nasty, untruthful ads and people suddenly have a new "understanding" of him, voting against all the propositions. Opponents did everything but claim Arnold wants to kill kids and pets. Now that it's over, the Governator says he's humbled and will now try to work with the other side. I hope he doesn't cave in to the left and a foster a new PC attitude... which would give the Knucklehead Caucus in Sacramento an even greater victory.

SAN DIEGO MAYORS RACE - JERRY SANDERS BEATS DONNA FRYE: By a much larger margin than anticipated by most pollsters. Now the hard work begins.

WHEN YOU CALL IT A TAX: Voters reject it. They dumped the proposal for a 1% sales tax increase in National City, CA. But a county bond issue passed. People still haven't figured out that bonds are obligations, not free money.
ACROSS AMERICA: No surprises with New Jersey and Virginia democrats retaining the governors spots. Bloomberg wins the mayors race in New York. The Wall Street Journal's John Fund tells me that America's into a state of "Bush fatigue". Texans voted against gay marriage.
