CONSPIRACIES GONE WILD

As the film United 93 opens in theaters across America, some on the left complain it's "too soon". Really? For what? To remind everyone why we are fighting against terrorists? That this is indeed a struggle between good and evil? It's been too long. Time for a national refresher course. The media have been too cautious about replaying images of September 11, too. Get used to it: This is a long slog, and we'd better stay focused on why we're doing what we're doing.

In the meantime, some (direct from the extra-terrestrial side of thought) are busy putting more blame on the USA (which, if course, is much like a current "world sport"). Mainstream Dinosaurs love running stories about how awful we are, and they're quick to imagine the wildest fantasies. Here's the latest:
www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2006-04-27-conspiracies-sept-11_x.htm

I'M DISGUSTED: By some fellow "conservatives" in the media who are using the debate over illegal immigration to spike their ratings. Some have gone way over the line in their "on-air stunting" and are sounding like racist extremists. That's not the way to have a national debate. Their behavior plays into the hands of those who want no national sovereignty and thumb their noses (all nostrils) at the Rule of Law. The power of persuasion should be used wisely, with fairness. Not as a cheap, incendiary way to grab an audience, regardless of the consequences.

IT'S NOT OVER

Despite the Democrat attempts to portray Republicans as "out of touch" (witness the latest from Sen. Slots Reid: www.cnsnews.com/ViewPolitics.asp?Page=/Politics/archive/200604/POL20060425a.html) there's a new spirit of "fighting for what's right" back here in DC. Had some good conversations with Rep. Henry Hyde, Tom DeLay, Sen. Bill Frist and other key members of Congress at last night's National Right to Life awards dinner (which I had the honor of emceeing). It's going to be a very interesting time on The Hill. Stay tuned. BTW: DeLay is expected to join me on my KOGO show later this week. Details to come.

BIG MOVE FORWARD BY IRAQ GOVERNMENT: But it doesn't seem to matter to those who've been screaming for progress. Make no mistake: The positive moves over the weekend are a strong indication that Iraqis are taking over more of the responsibilities. How do we know it's progress? By the stepped-up terrorist attacks on Sunday (and by the way DC critics give the story a gloss-over before going back to attacks on Bush). Every time there's something good happening, the thugs sense they're losing control and try to wear down the resolve of the Coalition partners... and especially the American people... by increasing mayhem.

HE'S READY TO IMPLODE

Howard Dean just keeps trying to find ways to talk up misery. The DNC leader's view seems to be this: Let's revel in the concept of more people in a mess so we can step all over them on our return to power... whatever it takes. Yuck.

And Chucky Schumer is busy talking about how gas prices are a "metaphor" for problems with the economy (which, by the way, is rolling along quite nicely). This is the same bunch that embraces the culture of death, too. Fun crowd. It's all a flashback to Al Gore in 1992 harping about "Everything that should be up is down".... years later, of course, he and Bubba took credit for non-stop years of economic prosperity, the length of which only computed if they included what Al claimed were miserable years under Bush 41.

Very dynamic group... and they're making a difference fighting for what's right, working their way through the sea of left-wing thinking in academia. The student said it made it look like the left was in some sort of conspiracy. Uh, sure. If the shoe fits. Well, it's actually a great resource to find out who is supported by whom. HOWARD DEAN, UNPLUGGED (AGAIN)

He wouldn't be happy even if Murtha took Rummy's job and Cindy Sheehan replaced Scott McClellan.

By Melanie HunterCNSNews.com Senior EditorApril 19, 2006:
Rove 'Demotion' Not Enough, Dean Says(CNSNews.com) - Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean cheered Wednesday at news that White House adviser Karl Rove will give up some of his deputy-chief-of-staff duties. Rove will give up the job of deputy chief of staff of policy, which will be turned over to Joel Kaplan, now the deputy White House budget director. Rove will remain at the White House in his advisory capacity. "After having his hand in nearly every bad Bush policy decision and nearly every scandal that has consumed the Bush White House, it is not surprising that Karl Rove was demoted this morning," said Dean in statement. "But, a demotion is not enough. From the collapse of the President's scheme to privatize social security to Rove's involvement in the outing of a covert CIA agent's identity while he still holds a security clearance, the President has abundant reason to fire Karl Rove," said Dean, who called for a change to the president's "failed" policies. "The Bush White House is merely engaging in window dressing. President Bush doesn't seem to understand that you can't just change the window dressing, you have to make changes in the Bush Administration's policies which have undermined America's security -- from the economy to health care, our families and the war in Iraq," concluded Dean.

LAWS? WHAT LAWS?

More evidence that the country is coming unglued, after years of idiotic PC thinking: The Governor of Arizona can't see what's illegal about being illegal. San Francisco's Mayor says he'll ignore any new anti-illegal laws. More absurd stories everyday. It's a reflection of wallowing in moral relativism for years. And a recent Parade magazine cover story featured Tom Cruise asking, "Who's to say what's normal?" 'Nuff said.

CAST YOUR VOTE IN TODAY'S NEW POLL

How to handle illegal immigration? www.larsonpoll.com

IT'S ABOUT THE "ILLEGAL" PART....

... not just about "immigration". Nearly every news story Sunday referred to street protests resuming because of the "immigration" debate. Immigration, when legal, is wonderful. And yes, the U.S. needs to streamline the process of "doing it right". But the debate and the outrage is over illegal immigration. There's a huge difference. And don't you love the way news skews any counter-protests? When the other side manifests itself, there's automatic "concern" that things could get ugly out there. What's really ugly is the knee-jerk reaction which is often motivated by unions and other groups-with-agendas who manipulate the very people they claim to champion. This should be quite an interesting week.

PROTECTING KIDS ONLINE

Coming up tonight: Dateline NBC is doing a major report on internet security, especially MySpace.com --- something we've been talking about (and warning about) for the last year. Our friend Donna Rice Hughes will be featured on the program, which airs at 7PM Pacific time. We'll have more on this issue on Monday's Larson show on KOGO, 12Noon to 3PM Pacific on NewsRadio 600 KOGO and www.kogo.com The good news is that recent events (snagging high-profile predators) have caused the networks to discover the concerns about under-age kids using MySpace. Hopefully they will stay with it this time, helping to educate parents. For ways to increase your child's safety online, visit www.protectkids.com

Perky Ms. Couric is expected to stick it to NBC during her 15th anniversary salute this morning on Today. But for those who think she's going to the "competition", I offer wisdom from one of our KOGO Concerned Listeners (Chuck in Escondido, CA) who notes: "I don't know why you sounded surprised that there would be a big send-off for Katie Couric. You've listened to Rush when he plays the clips of the sound bite media repeating talking points. She's not going to a competitor, she's going to a different department." WASHINGTON,DC UPDATE

Ah, it's quite the weekend here in the place known as Our Nation's Capital (I point that out to help all the students who've been out of class all week protesting). It's lovely spring weather and the cherry blossoms are at their peak. But on the Hill, it's becoming an outpost of Area 51. Rep Cynthia McKinney, Democrat from Georgia, leader of the "Don't You Know Who I Am?" school of politics, set charges of racism in motion with her wacky press conference on Friday (complete with her own racism on display). Among her props: young school children who were manipulated into holding pro-Cynthia signs. Then there was John Dean, eager to do the very best for, well, John Dean, testifying before the U.S. Senate, charging that Bush's wiretapping (etc etc) is "worse that Watergate". Our friend G. Gordon Liddy debunked that notion on my Friday show from Fox News DC... until a Deaniac tried to shout him down with plenty of Nixon-era naughty words. (Ah, thank the Lord for a digital delay system on our show!) And let's not forget Sen. Russ Feingold (another Dem '08 presidential wanna-be) trying to censure Bush... and now being joined by that pillar of virtue, Sen. Patrick "Leaky" Leahy. All of this goes on while GW Bush is out of town, trying to get somewhere on illegal immigration. Mexico's president (and disappointment) Vicente Fox says his country can't crack down on illegals on his side of the border because it would be harmful to Mexico's constitution. But trampling the U.S. Constitution is just fine? Fox would fit in very well with the assorted lunatics on Capitol Hill. He could become a K Street lobbyist after he's out of office.

ON THE LARSON SUNDAY SHOW: Claire Berlinski, author of Menace in Europe: Why the Continent's Crisis Is America's, Too and Arizona Congressman J.D. Hayworth, who is not all all happy about Bush administration policy on illegal immigration. Hear the show from 12Noon to 3PM Pacific on NewsRadio 600 KOGO and www.kogo.com
