SALUTING THE HEROES
Saturday night I had the honor of emceeing the Fairbanks Republican Women Federated "Heroes Round-up" at San Diego's Del Mar Fairgrounds. It was a wonderful event, made most memorable by a salute to several real-life heroes from World War II, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan: James Kunkle, Neil Black, Bob Krone, Robert Modrzejewski, Scott Montoya and Tom Richards. We also saluted legendary actor Hugh O'Brian (of "Wyatt Earp" fame). Hugh has had a very successul public service organization, "HOBY" (Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership) for nearly 50 years, greatly impacting individuals and communities across the USA. It was a very inspiring evening, and a great reminder of what America is all about.
