KEEPING AN EYE ON THEM

DEMS LAND IN SAN DIEGO
It's the first time the California State Democratic Convention has been held here: www.10news.com/news/13208479/detail.html I say to them, "Welcome. Please spend lots of money. Then go home." I'm not picking on all of the attendees, just the extreme lefties and the DNC "leadership"... if leading means pressing showing the enemy all of our plans. Hey, I have no qualms about Hillary, Obama, Kucinich, Edwards (nice hair) et al. I just don't want them running anything important.
SPEAKING OF EDWARDS: John Edwards' wife Elizabeth got into it with Chris Matthews last night before the Dems debate. And she stepped in it, suggesting President Bush went to Virginia Tech to comfort families because it's a prettier, more upwardly mobile place than New Orleans post-Katrina. Wow: http://youtube.com/watch?v=jbnH0cYHOcY
I admire her battle against cancer, but she's been making some nasty public statements lately, including the disparaging words about her gun-toting Republican neighbor.

HERE THEY GO AGAIN
The Dow hits 13,000 and network news finds something to whine about: http://newsbusters.org/node/12312
HARRY REID SHOULD BE ASHAMED
But he's not. And "Give 'em hell, Harry" isn't supposed to be directed toward our troops. But that's what he's doing... and so are a majority of the members of the U.S. House: http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=MTczZWIyNGYwZWJmMWFlMzM5MTdjY2Y1YmI3ZGE5ZTQ

AND HE MAY BE RIGHT
Rudy Giuliani warns of a "new 9/11" if the Dems win: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0407/3684.html
MORE SIGNS OF THE APOCALYPSE
NBC's Today Show generates the lion's share of revenue for the NEWS division of the network. What's "news" today? Well, first a long segment with a young man who went on YouTube to offer himself as a "phone friend". He has no job, just asks people to call him and chat. And that warrants a long segment on the show, complete with a sitdown, in-studio interview. Leading the next hour: American Idol's Sanjaya, who's in-studio as well with more breaking news... or whatever it is HE does. Oh--- Sanjaya was also the most popular attraction at the zoo known as the White House Correspondents Dinner last weekend, with loads of autograph seekers skipping other more notable attendees for the off-key Idol wannabe. Eww boy.

LIBERALS CRACKING UP
The rumors are flying about Katie Couric's rocky reign at CBS. Gail Shister in today's Philadelphia Inquirer says : Already-low morale in the news division is dropping, says a veteran correspondent there."It's a disaster. Everybody knows it's not working. CBS may not cut her loose, but I guarantee you, somebody's thinking about it. We're all hunkered down, waiting for the other shoe to drop." Seven correspondents, producers and executives at CBS and other networks interviewed for this story spoke on condition of anonymity, given the sensitive nature of the Couric situation. Couris and CBS were a bad fit from the start. "From the moment she walked in here, she held herself above everybody else," says a CBS staffer. "We had to live up to her standards. . . . CBS has never dealt in this realm of celebrity before."
In the meantime, Hillary Rodham Clinton says if she's elected Bill will be a "roaming ambassador to the world". (Make up your own joke here..... hey, what was the old line about "Roman hands, Russian fingers"? That might work.) And environmental activist Sheryl Crow now wants to limit our toilet paper usage: One sheet please, except in those "special cases" where two or three will do. Yikes.

A SLAP IN THE FACE
Harry Reid's assessment is ill-advised and pathetic: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,267324,00.html A slap in the face to our troops and a dance on the graves of those who've given the ultimate sacrifice. He and his bunch care only about getting more power, and will even try to get traction during a week when America is emotionally weaker than usual (after the Virginia Tech massacre).

NBC'S JUDGEMENT
Or lack of it. The same network so offended by Imus' comments sees no problem letting Cho speak from the pit of Hell. My friend Hugh Hewitt has it right: http://hughhewitt.townhall.com/g/101b4405-3516-4721-b5fa-4c028769b0ab
WILL HOLLYWOOD NOTICE?
So it wasn't a movie made in Hollywood. But it was a movie that gave too much "inspiration" to the Virginia Tech killer: http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30000-1261402,00.html
Based on this horrible episode, shouldn't Hollywood consider what it spews, too... and how they may help trigger the crazies?

HERE WE GO AGAIN
How many times has THIS happened: People found to be a menace to society get released by the courts! That's the story about Mr. Cho, mastermind of the Virgina Tech massacre: http://abcnews.go.com/US/print?id=3052278 What other "cases" are on the streets, wandering around as ticking time bombs, all due to left-wing judicial emotion?
THE SUPREME COURT DECISION
Today's partial birth abortion ruling is a good step toward reminding the judiciary that there's not a Constitution right to kill babies. But here's the rest of the story: http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=NzMxZWQ0ZGM1NjdjYmZlZDBiYjRlMDc3NzAxOGU2M2Y=

WHO AND WHY
Now we know the identity of the man who's believed to have created the carnage on the Virginia Tech campus: http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=3048108&page=1 The "whys" to the story continue to be determined.

OH, THIS IS WHY THEY VOTE LEFT
New stats show that nearly 53% of Americans get "significant" entitlements from "the government". Not a helpful trend: www.csmonitor.com/2007/0416/p01s04-usec.html Of course many people think the money comes from some mystery source instead of, uh, taxpayers. I vote for more civics lessons in schools and less over-emphasis on sex ed.

HAPPY TAX DAY
Ah, everyone loves April 15th. Uh, not exactly. But what we do know is that everyone should love the Bush tax cuts... something that should be applauded in bi-partisan agreement (if it wasn't for that world of pesky partisan politics). The fact that the economy is strong and unemployment is historically low. Fred Thompson, possible Presidential candidate, examines the issue: www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110009940 Warning: The current cuts that have fueled the economy expire in 2010. Another reason to be sure the Dems lose control of Congress in 2008. More information on tax reform: www.atr.org
THE IMUS STORY ONE MORE TIME: Our friend Mark Steyn has it covered, once and for all: www.suntimes.com/news/steyn/341037,CST-EDT-steyn15.article Where does all the Imus-Sharpton-Jackson axis lead? To calls for crack downs on other talk show hosts, of course. A San Diego open borders activist, Enrique Morones want to punish KOGO's Roger Hedgecock and others for "hate speech". What hate speech? Using the words "illegal alien" and "illegal immigrant" , for example. We'll talk more about this hot issue on tomorrow's Hedgecock Show, where I'll be guest-hosting.... and we'll hear directly from Morones. 3-6PM Pacific on AM 600 KOGO. Then from 6-8PM Monday, formed major leaguer (and free speech advocate) John Rocker is my guest.
SPEAKING OF TAX DAY; Good news, for a change, from Sacramento regarding tax increases. Enough legislators signed a no-tax-increase pledge last week, which should help keep the Governator from spending urges. The men who got the pledge done, Senator Tom McClintock and Grover Norquist (Americans for Tax Reform) are my guests on today's Larson Weekend Show: 4 to 5PM Pacific on AM 600 KOGO and www.kogo.com

TIME TO WORRY
China's up to more things that should greatly concern the United States. Here's the latest: http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory?id=3041579 Bill Gertz (of the Washington Times and frequent guest on the Larson Show) has warned of the China Threat for years, and now here's more evidence. Hope the White House isn't so focused on trade that the desires of the Chinese government are ignored. They're boosting the size of their navy, too.

THE LATEST ON FREE SPEECH

IMUS AXED BY CBS
And Sharpton admits what I've talked about all week: It's not really about Imus. It's about giving the Language Police, led by Revs. Al & Jesse, new power to determine what's "right"... and to find a way to stick it to "conservative" talk radio. Chilling times, for sure. America now needs to demand apologies from them for horrible comments that incited riots, left people dead (in Sharpton's case) and ruined lives. Let's start with apologies in the Duke case. It's all sickening and obvious, what they're up to. Imus was wrong saying what he said, but he also siad such things all the time on his show. And for NBC and CBS to act as if this is all a shock is ridiculous. If they had any backbone, they would have waited for due process (like having the meeting with the Rutgers team first) before caving in to Al & Jesse. And the sidebar story of left-wing reporters from NBC and NY Times et al fleeing the scene after using Imus for promotion is surreal. Pathetic.
MORE EVIDENCE OF WHAT THE LEFT REALLY WANTS: http://newsbusters.org/node/12011 David Horowitz said it on my show today, and he's right: "These people are beyond liberal ... they're Stalinists".
ANOTHER REASON WHY NOT TO CHANGE PLANES IN ATLANTA: www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,265461,00.html

I TOLD YOU SO
Al Sharpton has a never-ending desire for.... what? Here's what he said today:
"It is our feeling that this is only the beginning. We must have a broad discussion on what is permitted and not permitted in terms of the airwaves." The Language Police are in their glory now!
MAYBE HE'LL GO AFTER TONY BLAIR NEXT: http://www.guardian.co.uk/frontpage/story/0,,2055148,00.html

THE LYNCH MOB GAINS STRENGTH
MSNBC dumps Imus, CBS may be next )for his radio show). So what will Sharpton & Jackson want next? Big fines? Public execution. As I've noted many times this week, I don't condone the kind of thing Imus does when he goes to Junior High Humor mode. But the way this story has morphed from stupid :10 sec on-air comment into a national menace worthy of a War-on-Words is bizarre. Here's some clarity from the Boston Herald today: http://news.bostonherald.com/columnists/view.bg?articleid=194246

LET'S ALL FOCUS
As stupid as the Imus remark was, I'd love to see all the people screaming about that focus on something more life-threatening... like this: www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aSlyhExokggw&refer=home How about redirecting the anti-Imus passion toward the people who apparently want us dead?

IMUS FLAP
Don Imus' stupid, insensitive comments about the Rutgers Women's Basketball team were inexcusable. Dumb move. He's apologized, and it shouldn't come as a shock that he's often tended to ruin a good news-driven show with juvenile penis jokes and other cheap humor. But the bigger concern is the Al Sharpton et al push to now police public speech. Among the real whoppers today: Sharpton and Jesse Jackson calling for Imus' firing, too... the same "Reverand Jackson" who once referred to New York City as "Hymietown". At the end of hte day, even presidential candidate Barack Obama was harping about Imus. People sometimes open their mouths and "stupid" comes out. Our friend Ann Coulter went too far with John Edwards comments and so did Bill Maher regarding Dick Cheney and the Taliban trying to kill him. But I defend their right to speak, even when it's not very smart at all. Watch very carefully how the Language Cops are gaining ground, Constitution be damned. Time to be VERY careful about that.
BORDER INSECURITY
President Bush will be in Yuma, Arizona today to renew his push for "immgration reform": http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=3021838&CMP=OTC-RSSFeeds0312 The question is: Has he learned anything from increased public unrest... enough to curb the push for amnesty?

A few tests or experiments on the way out the door? A little last minute brainwashing? Chores that must be completed before going home from camp? Ah, the mind wanders with the possibilities. "Processing", I guess. Paperwork. Of course Mahmoud could still change his mind...
FREE AT LAST?
Well, shortly, says Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: http://breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8O9SD080&show_article=1&catnum=0 Let's get this straight: He's releasing the captive sailors who his government held HOSTAGE as a "gift" to the British people and to commemorate the birthday of Muhammad and Easter. Huh? Sounds like when government taxes us, then says it's "giving" us money.

GODSPEED

The USS Nimitz and its Carrier Strike Group leave San Diego at 9AM today on a six-month deployment in support of the War on Terrorism. They'll be heading to the tense Persian Gulf, replacing the USS Eisenhower. Our prayers and best wishes are with the 5,000 men and women on this mission, and especially with their families and loved ones left at home. Here's more information on the Nimitz: http://navysite.de/cvn/cvn68.html
HOLLYWOOD: The Nimitz "starred" in the 1980 sci-fi film "The Final Countdown". It's a great story of the ship going back through time to right before the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. The movie is available on DVD.
ON TODAY'S SHOW: We'll talk live with the new Commanding Officer of the Nimitz, Capt. Mike Manazir, when they're several hours away from San Diego.
In the 6PM hour today during our new expanded afternoon drive on AM 600 KOGO and www.kogo.com
