BUSH IS TEN TIMES WORSE THAN BIN LADEN?

So suggests Cindy Sheehan. Read about it and see the video here:
www.cnsnews.com/ViewPolitics.asp?Page=\Politics\archive\200601\POL20060131a.html

THE END OF LIFE AS WE KNOW IT...

...or so Ted Kennedy and his buddies suggest. Sam Alito is approved for the Supreme Court.
http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/01/31/D8FFOPS80.html

IT'S NO COINCIDENCE

Zawahri issues a new tape calling Bush a "butcher", reporter Jill Carroll is seen begging for the release of Iraqi women prisoners, ABC's Bob Woodruff and his cameraman are hit by an IED, Kennedy/Kerry try to filibuster, Cindy Sheehan is shown buddy-buddy with Fidel-wanna-be Hugo Chavez---and now the mainstream dinosaur media are piling on...just in time to undermine the President's State of the Union message.

Says CNN's Christiane Amanpour: "The Iraq war has been a disaster. It's a spiraling security disaster...It just gets worse and worse." And that's what the left (and many Democrats) hope for... anything to help dump Bush.

The media are ridiculous in their over-doing coverage of the Woodruff story. It's tragic, yes. But they act is if they just realized that war is hell. Oh, and by the way: two brave Marines gave the ultimate sacrifice on Saturday. That's a story eclipsed/ignored by the networks. Here are their names:
Sgt. David Herrera of Oceanside and Pfc. Brian J. Schoff, of Manchester, Tennessee.
They were with the 101st Airborne. God bless them... and their families.

NEWT GINGRICH ON THE MONDAY LARSON SHOW: Says the war on terror could take 50 to 75 years. And we need to work hard to contain Iran --- now. Hopes GWB will be tough in the State of the Union speech but is concerned it might be just "happy talk".

SO WHAT?

The USA Today headline says religious groups are getting lots of "AIDS fight" money. So, what's the point? Church groups are often much more effecive in meeting needs than bloated government. Case in point: Hurricane Katrina relief. Without faith-based groups doing what they did, victims would have been left with FEMA alone.

OK SADDAM --- THAT'S ABOUT ENOUGH

The Butcher of Baghdad's trial resumes, he gets nutty (still thinks he's in charge) and then he and his "team" go bye bye. Time to stop with the theatrics and remember: Saddam, you're on the hot seat. You're the problem.
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20060129/D8FEDPN00.html

BOB WOODRUFF IN "IED" EXPLOSION: The new co-anchor of ABC-TV news was seriously injured (along with his cameraman) today north of Baghdad. Our prayers go out to them and their loved ones. It's another example of the ruthless nature of the enemy.

WOODRUFF WAS NO STRANGER TO COMBAT: He had covered war zones before. This time he was taking additional risks, though. Here's how the ABC reports says it:

Woodruff, Vogt and their four-man team was in the lead vehicle traveling in a convoy with Iraqi security forces in Taji, Iraq. Woodruff and Vogt were standing up in the back hatch of their vehicle taping a video log of the patrol at the time of the attack.

"He wanted to get out and report the story and not be locked in and taking information from someone else who was experiencing it," said ABC senior producer Kate Felsen, who had been working with Woodruff for the past two weeks.

Woodruff and Vogt had been embedded with the 4th Infantry Division and were in a mechanized vehicle on a combined operation with Iraqi Army and Coalition forces when the explosive went off.

ON MONDAY'S RADIO SHOW: We'll have the latest re: the War on Terror from Oliver North (just back from Iraq) . Also on Monday: Former U.S. Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.

Tuesday: We'll be joined by former Iraqi general Georges Sada... the man who defied Saddam and lived to tell about it. (He's also saying WMDs were moved to Syria.)

TIME FOR THE DEMS TO SHUT UP AND VOTE

The GOP is moving to force Senate Democrats to stop blabbing and get on with the up or down vote on Alito. The Dems are again showing what they did for years... blather, bloviate, delay... it's not going to work this time. Even with John Kerry haunting Capitol Hill with his grandstanding about leading a filibuster.

GOOGLE HOLDS THE LINE: Well, almost. Last week they balked at the Bush administration's request to help analyze how often underage kids accidentally get porn on the web. Google cited the need to avoid government interference. Now we know they've agreed to do whatever the communist Chinese government wants them to do... a requirement if Google expects to cash in on the new money in the PRC. Follow the moolah.

LA TIMES COLUMNIST TRASHES THE MILITARY: Liberal wussie Joel Stein sticks to his claim that he's NOT supporting the troops and he's proud of it. He writes that men and women in uniform are the ones responsible for what's happening in Iraq, and they ought to consider the morality of what they're doing. (What? SO they should lay down arms right away and let the terrorists win?) Stein agreed to be on the Wednesday Larson show, then in an act of typical liberal "bravery", bailed at the last minute. Concerned listener "Julie", a Marine who has spent two tours in Iraq, called to take him on. It's a classic call. You can hear it right here: Just click and scroll to the link.

BAD NEWS FOR THE WEST WING

The TV show, "The West Wing" is being dumped after 7 seasons. This in the same week we hear that the Hillary-As-President-Concept show, "Commander In Chief" is lagging in the ratings. Geena Davis' lock-jawed delivery and a couple of Hillary buddies behind the scenes aren't doing as well as they did last fall. Maybe more Americans see through left-wing spew, rejecting it in fictional TV dramas ...as well as at the real-life ballot box.

TEDDY KENNEDY QUITS

Says he's dumping out of the biased club (similar to the campus group he bashed Alito about) "as fast as he can". In a tribute to Kerry-speak ("I voted for it befor voting against it"), the Lion of the Left says he's "not a member" and "pays $100". Apparently some sort of "non member membership fee"?

MURTHA SPEWS AGAIN

With all due respect to his miltary career (even with the latest questions about it --see story below), Rep. John Murtha is getting even more PR, this time on 60 Minutes. And: He still thinks we need to bail on Iraq in six months, but that the U.S. should keep a "rapid-response force" next door in Kuwait. Uh, yeah, Sure. To go back in after terrorists take over? With a weaker footing and infrastructure? And Iran's getting wackier. This is no time to cut and run. It's time for smart Democrats to call Murtha's "plan" what it is: Dangerous.

AND THE BEAT(ING) GOES ON

Now the Democrats, champions of women everywhere (uh, right), cause Alito's wife to break down in tears. Nice. The lefties are grasping at anything to try to demonize the Judge. They've gone too far.

SAN DIEGO BUZZ: New Mayor Jerry Sanders gives his first "State of the City" (and it ain't in good shape) message tonight. Rumors abound: Will the Mayor possibly ask (soon) for resignations of the SDCERS pension board next? And then City Attorney Aguirre gets more power? Oh boy.

EVEN THE NEW YORK TIMES THINKS...

... the Senators are too windy. The Times keeps score on the front page today:Biden bloviates most, Kennedy a close second in the interrogation of Judge Alito. Dick "Turban" Durbin led off today with more amazing "thinking", including trying to connect Alito with mining disasters. The only disaster here is the behavior of Senate democrats who are pretending that their antics change the inevitable: Alito will be confirmed. The Dems behavior is reprehensible.

THE PEOPLE HAVE IT FIGURED OUT
Polls show more Americans are tuned into the issue of privacy (gee, maybe it's the non-stop distorted stories about Bush and "wiretapping") BUT: they still understand we're in a war here... and why it's necessary to bug bad guys to save lives.

HERE WE GO AGAIN

The hearings begin today and Judge Sam Alito is on the griddle this time. Democrats suggest they won't attempt to filibuster, but they'll certainly go back to their usual playbook. Watch for "leaders" like Ted Kennedy to claim (straight faced and everything) that he doesn't want any sort of "litmus test" on this nominee... just someone who isn't "pro-life", someone who wouldn't limit a "woman's right to choose".

TIME TO CLEAN IT UP

Tom DeLay decides to skip the fight to return to his U.S. House leadership post. Democrats rejoice, of course. Smart move for DeLay, to shrink the Republican target. (I still think he's being railroaded by a venomous DA Ronnie Earle.) But the GOP needs to move quickly to blunt (and I don't necessarily mean "Roy") the fresh assaults from the Donkey Party. Republicans often wait to log to respond to sleazy attacks, playing "nice". That only allows Pelosi & Company to squawk loudly about "the culture of corruption", knowing that simply repeating bogus charges (with the assistance of left-wing media) causes Americans to shift perceptions. Time to speed the clean up on Capitol Hill and to unload counter assaults on the Dems.

We're in New York City for today's radio show. We'll be in the Rush Limbaugh broadcast lair at Radio City, with visits to the Land-of-Fox... aka Fox News Channel. John Gibson and Steve Doocy will be in-studio with us, along with other surprise guests. We'll also talk with the Commanding Officer of the USS Ronald Reagan (now off on its first six month deployment in support of the War on Terrorism). Captain Terry Kraft will be live from the bridge of the newest, most powerful ship in the world. Weather note: For those of you in Southern California--- enjoy that warm weather. It's in the 30s here.

WHICH GOVERNATOR IS THIS? Arnold wants to spend plenty of money and he says he can do it without raising taxes. I hope he's right about that. France didn't pay attention to immigration issues for years. Illegals (and often unlimited legals) led to the spread of riots and cultural tensions in recent months. Now there's this example of "creative mayhem":

Now, imagine the area if we left Iraq as fast as some on the left suggest. Yikes.

THE GOOD GUYS ARE HEADING OUT TODAY: Our friends on the USS Ronald Reagan (and its Strike Group ships) sail out of San Diego on a six month deployment in support of the War on Terror. I have a special affinity for the ship and its crew, going back to its Norfolk, Virginia commissioning... and as an "Honorary Plankowner" of the ship. The Reagan is the most up-to-date, most powerful warship in the world, with an Air Wing second-to-none. But beyond the "hardware" you'll find the men and women who make it all come together. These are America's finest, and they're doing what they do best. Thanks to the family members they leave handling things on the homefront, too. God bless 'em all, and Godspeed!

HAPPY NEW YEAR... NOW GET BACK TO WORK

This is so confusing. New Year's Day without the Rose Parade (due to an old "never on Sunday" rule), Rose Bowl not until Wednesday. Here's a hunch: Many Americans are still on Christmas vacation this week. Oh sure, many will be back to work today, but due to the crazy stretched-out holiday schedules, they may be taking "mental vacations" until next Monday.

KUDOS TO DICK CLARK: For working hard to get past a horrible stroke, and braving criticism by doing the New Year's Eve TV show. Yes, he is far from his "old self" yet, but he deserves plenty of credit for just going out there, challenges-and-all and just "doing it".
